The Joseph Matteucci Foundation for Youth Nonviolence

Alexandra Matteucci, Director and Founder

Oprah Winfrey hosts Alexandra Matteucci

Alexandra Matteucci is presently functioning as the Director of the Joseph Matteucci Foundation, and President of the Board of Directors. She donates her time to the foundation drawing on all of her resources to create the programs and develop fund raising events to fund them.

Alexandra started the foundation with her son's college fund. She now speaks in schools and colleges throughout the Bay Area sharing her son's story with students. She relates the events of the day of her son's death, recreating the situation leading up to the murder. She discusses the reasons that the incident escalated, the alternatives that were available, and the responsibility of each person — from the kids and their parents to the coaches and umpires. She shares the importance of alternatives to violence and how mediation techniques could have impacted the final outcome and the consequences of Anthony Messina's actions. She discusses Mr. Messina's sentencing and incarceration with an update on his life.

Prior to 1983, Alexandra worked in Retail Management and District Supervisory positions, hiring and training management personnel. In addition to running the foundation, Alexandra volunteers her time in other community venues including:

The Doris Tate Crime Victims Bureau Advisory Board
The Safe Schools Committee Memorial Flag Project
Awarded NFL Alumni Big Hitter Award
Awarded Alameda County Bar Associations Liberty Bell Award Paul Harris Fellow
Castro Valley Rotary Club Board Member, District 5170

Alexandra started her own business in 1983 and became the first female Importer in the Specialty Gourmet Foods industry. The business, A&H Marketing, functioned as the Importer, Brokerage and Distribution Network for products seeking introduction to the U.S. Market, with marketing rights in six states, including California.

Alexandra simultaneously ran an additional business, Alexandra & Associates, which functioned as a Market Research/Consulting firm. She consulted with clients on package design for the American market, as well as on pricing, sales and marketing strategies. This service was necessary prior to the presentation of the product to the brokerage industry.
